Album Review

Four years after To the Extreme, Vanilla Ice came back with a refashioned, modern sound, borrowing from the blunted Cypress Hill, the deep funk of Dr. Dre, the quick-tongued rapping of Das EFX -- basically, anything that's been popular since his first album. While he spends an obscene amount of time dissing 3rd Bass, he counters all charges of being a sellout by stating that he has sold over 11 million records. There isn't a single moment that establishes a distinct musical identity, and the whole thing is rather embarrassing. Not surprisingly, the record dropped out of sight almost a month after its release.
