The fourth installment of boxed CD reissues of
Queen’s original singles covers the band’s very last albums, 1989’s
The Miracle and 1991’s
Innuendo, the last two records released during
Freddie Mercury’s lifetime; the posthumous 1995 collection
Made in Heaven; and selected singles from the comps
Queen Rocks and
Greatest Hits III. Whatever the relative merits of these albums may be -- and there are some diehards who will argue for them -- there’s no denying that this singles collection is for the most dedicated of the dedicated. There are no great flip sides -- these are primarily live versions, edits, remixes, and album tracks -- and the sleeves do not provoke the rush of nostalgia that the first three volumes in the set do, leaving this for completists only.
