The Savory +3 EP is an essential companion piece to
For Your Own Special Sweetheart. "Lil' Shaver" is a raucous two-minute blast of sinister guitars and yelped vocals. "68" is easily one of
Jawbox's best moments, not to be missed; it certainly isn't something they would have been able to pull off a year before. Full of jaw-dropping stop/start, build/release dynamics, it doesn't cease raising neck hairs after more than 200 plays (a proven fact). "Sound on Sound" is yet another fine cover, this time courtesy of
the Big Boys. If you want to sing along to any of these songs, good luck -- the lyrics are printed in alphabetical order,
a la Mission of Burma's Signals, Calls and Marches.
