A live recording from an Atlanta club in 1974 featuring firebrand cornetist Wild Bill Davison along with clarinetist Jack Maheu and trombonist Skip Derringer, Talk of the Town is a typically upbeat, off-the-cuff, and swinging Davison affair. Included here are wide-open versions of standards such as "Ida," a bluesy take on "How Come You Do Me (Like You Do)," a ripping "When You're Smiling," and more. While not exactly essential listening, for Davison fanatics the album is an irresistible offering of prime Davison swagger and fire.
