Whether intentionally or not, this sounds like the heroin user's music of choice: comfortably numbing, pulsing layers of fuzzy/distorted guitars, electronic rhythms, throbbing bass, and exotic touches of theremin and oscillation.
Pete Bassman/
Bain adds some vocals in a half-spoken, half-sung style that's vaguely reminiscent of a very subdued
Iggy Pop. Those who appreciate intricately constructed songs will lose interest pretty quickly. Fans of the album, though, will be quick to note that it's precisely the point of the record to deconstruct conventional song forms in favor of mantra-like grooves and atmosphere.
