Album Review

This collection concentrates mainly on their second and third albums but omits most of their superb debut, with "Waterfall" being the only cut to make it here (and a remix of it and this compilation's title do further disservice). So there is no "Honeymoon Express," "The Life," "Light," or other exquisite beauties. Nonetheless, there is plenty of snappy funk culled from Fruit at the Bottom (best served by seven tracks), including "Are You My Baby" and "Lolly Lolly," and from Eroica the dipsy "Rainbow Lake" and Eastern-flavored rocker "Why Wait for Heaven" are sublime. A bit of an ill-conceived set for two of the most underrated female musicians, but OK if you're stuck for decent funk or in need of an intro. Best to pay the extra and buy all three.
