This is a compilation of live performances from various points in his career. Of course, it's missing a great deal of relevant information and the recording quality is crude. This is probably the best place to be introduced to the demented moron who made obscenity a political statement, as he was still possessed of an intelligible voice on these recordings. He can even carry a tune on the earlier tracks, unthinkable to those familiar only with his later work. His between-song banter with the audience is hilariously stupid. It features guest appearances from Dinosaur Jr.'s J. Mascis
and MC5's Wayne Kramer
and Dennis Thompson
. Most of Allin
's earlier recordings are out of print, so if you're a fan, find this.
