The Power of Music was
the Miracles' follow-up to their hit album
City of Angels, which included the number one pop hit "Love Machine." While
City of Angels, produced by
Freddie Perren, was a concept album with a clear theme (a look at the seamier side of L.A. and Hollywood),
The Power of Music was produced by groupmember
Warren "Pete" Moore and seemed somewhat muddled. Though it did managed to chart number 38 on the R&B and included a few nice tracks, such as "Let the Children Play," "Love to Make Love," and the slow jam "You Need a Miracle." The latter two are on the 2002 Polygram International CD
Essential Collection.
