Johann Pachelbel was the father of
Wilhelm, the eldest son. The latter was a German composer and organist who held positions at Furth, Erfurt and also at Nuremberg. As a composer his main contributions were organ works and other scores for keyboard instruments. It is not surprising that a number of the keyboard compositions are similar to the compositions of his father but
Wilhelm's later works were clearly more forward looking than
Johann's. Some of the later compositions are contained in Pachelbel's collection "Musicalishes Vergnugen".
