Time To Help The Kids
We’re just a few days away from the annual Have a Heart Kids Radiothon coming up on Thursday. But then less than two weeks later on Tuesday May 8th, Angelo Mosca and I will be back hosting the 6th annual Sports Celebrity Dinner over at Club Roma in support of the Niagara Peninsula Children’s Center. We bill ourselves as beauty and the beast. You can decide who’s who. I plan on presenting Ang with a rose. We’ll see if I get caned upside the head.
This year, we’ve got another great head table, including legendary goalie Billy Smith who won 4 Stanley Cups with the Islanders. Former Leaf Gary Leeman is coming for the first time, along with former Leaf goalies Peter Ing and Eddie Chadwick. Also appearing—UFC fighter Mark ‘the machine’ Hominick, Bandits star Mark Steenhuis, and Olympian Jayna Hefford. We’ll also be inducting new members into the St. Catharines Sports Hall of Fame.
But of course, the big highlight will be the return of Dennis Hull to the dinner. In case you don’t know, Dennis is brother to Bobby, and Uncle to Brett, which means the Hull family had two members in the NHL. Dennis has made a career doing the celebrity dinner circuit, and his monologue is worth the price of admission alone. I’m sure as soon as I introduce him, he’ll say again, ‘thank you very much, whoever you are.’
Tickets are still 100 dollars for a great Roma dinner, the silent auction, and a ton of laughs—and that also includes a 60 buck tax receipt. Call the Children’s Center for tickets—905-688-3550. And on behalf of the kids, thank you very much—whoever you are.
