Talkin' Proud Again?
Is this the year the Buffalo Bills finally make the playoffs? I’ve run out of fingers to count how long it’s been since they’ve played in the post season. For the record, it’s 12. Remember the Music City Miracle? The Bills kick off the season Sunday against the Jets and yes, many are predicting that they finally have what it takes to make the playoffs—but the following must happen.
Number one. Ryan Fitzpatrick has to play like before he got injured. He went lame shortly after he signed his new contract. The Bills finished last season 1 and 8 after starting the season 5 and 2.
Number two. The offense has got to start using Jackson and Spiller equally to keep opposing defenses on alert. Again, they’ve got to stay healthy or it’s game over.
And number three. A return to their rock solid defence that carried them the first 7 weeks last season. Buffalo went out and bagged Mario Williams who will anchor the D much like Bruce Smith did during the Levy/Kelly era and all those Super Bowl appearances. I still like the backfield and their penchant for making big interceptions, so I think the D is gonna be OK. It all comes down to how they revamp the offense, and if guys stay healthy.
If all this happens, then Buffalo’s got a great shot to end their playoff drought. If anything, it would at least give Ralph Wilson one last smile before he kicks. Then of course, Rogers swoops in and moves them to Toronto.
