121212 Concert

It was almost 6 hours long. The goodwill and starpower we're enough for anybody to at least check in for a couple of minutes on this huge telethon. As it often is with these things, there were a lot of hits and misses and in places it just just draaaaagged. Dominated by aging British rock roayalty, the performers included  Roger Waters, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, The Who, Jersey boys Springsteen & Bon Jovi...plus "new kids" Chris Martin, Kanye West & Alicia Keys. Peppering the evening were cameos by Eddie Vedder, Michael Stipe and the highlight for me, 3 of 4 touring members of Nirvana with Sir Paul. The fact that McCartney held his own in the fury of Nirvana's music was a revelation. To quote Jason Barr, Paul earned his pudding.
