Tom Petty once said, "I HATE THE BEATLES...because they never wrote a bad song".
It's hard to argue with him. Any muscian, fan or student of pop and rock music will tell you that Beatles' catalogue of songs and albums set the standard.... and it all took place in a flash - a mere 6 years. Their sense of melody and songwriting is impecable.
This week a (mostly) vocals-only file has been doing the rounds on the net. It is yet another glipse of their genius. If anything , it's another chance to sing-along-with-The-Beatles.
This is sample includes the 9 song medley which closes Abbey Road - from "You Never Give Me Your Money" to "Her Majesty". If you know it well, you'll find it revealing and will come across a few surprises along the way. This a real-time audio file so there will be gaps where you'll hear almost nothing...that's where the instrumental tracks would be playing"
If you love the Beatles harmonizing than you'll have to check out the (almost) vocals-only track of "Bohemian Rhapsody". Freddie Mercury is amazing but special credit to drummer Roger Taylor for his insanely high (soprano?) harmony vocal.
If you spend enough time you find a lot of these. Somebody sent me this last one last week, It's Slash's guitar parts on "Welcome To Jungle". He makes it sound soooo easy. A million people can play these licks but remember, he wrote 'em. BRILLIANT!
