St. Catharines Falcons win Sutherland Cup

5/5/2012

The St. Catharines Falcons won their first Sutherland Cup championship in 44 years on Friday night with a convincing 5-1 win over the Brantford Golden Eagles.

They took the series 4-games-to-2 in front of more than 1,800 fans at Gatecliff Arena.

Head coach Frank Girhiny says goaltending was ultimately the difference.

Former Niagara IceDog Johnson Andrews was instrumental in leading the St. Catharines Falcons to the win.

Andrews says without a doubt – this is the highlight of his career.
