Niagara's jobless rate up

Niagara's unemployment rate is up slightly.
New figures from Statistics Canada out Friday put the region's jobless number for April at 7.7%, up 2 notches from 7.5% the month before.
Ontario's job picture is also a little darker, with the unemployment rate up from 7.4% to 7.8%.
Canada's unemployment rate edged up to 7.3% in April from 7.2% as more people went looking for work.
The economy added over 58 000 new jobs in April, with employment up in most goods-producing industries & in most provinces.
All new work is in the employee category, rather than self-employment. They were also mostly in the private sector & mostly full time.
Statistics Canada says employment rose in manufacturing, construction, natural resources, agriculture & education.
