Fort Erie Korean War vet to be honoured by Prince Charles

5/16/2012

A Korean War veteran from Fort Erie is being honoured by Prince Charles at a ceremony in Toronto next week.

80-year-old Romeo Daley, who is the head of the Korean War Veterans Association of Niagara, received an email inviting him to Toronto for a visit with Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, as well as a visit with Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

It went on to say he was being honoured for his service to Canada during the Korean War but gave little in way of specifics. He assumes it has to do with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Daley says he is looking forward to meeting the Prince and says he will accept the honour on behalf of all the Korean War veterans across Canada.
