Public Meeting on Food Truck By Laws Scheduled for Monday May 28th

5/23/2012

A St. Catharines based food truck wants the city to increase the number of licenses available in the downtown core.

The El Gastronomo Vagabundo food truck has waited three years for a public meeting on food truck by laws that is set for Monday May 28 at city hall.

Co-owner & Operations Manager Tamara Jensen says they have been trying to change the existing rules ever since her company moved here from Ottawa.

Jensen says at the moment food trucks can only operate on private property not city property because there aren't enough licenses to go around.

At the moment there are only four licenses available for food vendors on St. Catharines streets.

Jensen also wants food trucks to be allowed to serve at municipal parks with permission from city officials.
