Officials are hoping rain overnight will help extinguish a fire burning in the Wainfleet bog.

An area of the Bog has been burning since the middle of last week.

Reports of smoke have been reported in the Highway 58 area.

Fire officials are waiting to see if the fire spreads to outside property.

The area is inaccessible to vehicles.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but a lightning strike could possibly be to blame combined with dry conditions.
