Fatal crash in Pelham

Police releasing a few more details into a fatal collision in Pelham this morning.
Investigators say a 47 year old St. Catharines man riding his motorcycle on Merrittville Highway collided with a pickup truck driven by a 21 year old Welland man in the intersection at Regional Road 20around 7:15.
Police say the truck was attempting to turn left into the westbound lanes of RR 20 when the motorcyclist struck the front passenger side of the vehicle ....throwing him from his bike.
The rider was critically injured and was taken to Welland General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the truck and a 20 year old passenger were not injured.
No names have been released at this time.
Acting Detective Sergeant with Niagara Regional Police Jeff Inch says although police are still investigating, it doesn't look like either vehicle was going at an unusual speed. Alcohol was not a factor.
The investigation closed parts of Merrittville Hwy & RR20 for much of the day. The roads re-opened shortly after 1pm.
