Feel overwhelmed when picking out a bottle of wine?
The LCBO is making it easier to figure out how sweet that bottle of Merlot or Pinot Gris is.
Soon, you'll see wines marked Extra Dry, Dry, Medium, Medium-Sweet & Sweet. Redesigned bin tags will also list the actual sugar content as grams of sugar per litre.
This replaces the current system which notes the sweetness of a wine by assigning it a number. Sparkling, dessert & fortified wines will still use the numbering system.
To start, the new sweetness indicators will be used for LCBO table wines & will be included on Vintages & Vintages Essentials as they come out.
