Pope Benedict selects St. Catharines priest to serve in Toronto

A St. Catharines priest has been hand-picked by the pope to become a Bishop of the acrchdiocese of Toronto
Monsignor Wayne Kirkpatrick was appointed auxiliary bishop by Pope Benedict and will be leaving the Diocese of St. Catharines where he has served since he was ordained back in September of 1984.
A native of St. Catharines, the bishop-designate says he's humbled by the appointment. He adds while it's difficult to leave his home, he is very much looking forward to working with Cardinal Thomas Collins and the "vibrant faith community of the Archdiocese of Toronto"
