The investigation continues after a woman was hit by a train early Sunday morning in Welland.

Emergency officials got the call to Carl and Darby Roads in Welland around 7:40 am.

The victim was airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital with life-threatening injuries as the area was closed for several hours.

Any witnesses are being asked to call Niagara Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
