Marineland owner's house targeted by protestors

7/9/2012

After losing a battle to keep municipal land in front of Marineland public, animal rights activists decided to take their protest to the source.

About 50 members of the Marineland Animal Defense along with some of the families evicted from the Green Oakes Mobile Home park picketed in front of Marineland owner John Holer's home yesterday.

Animal Defense spokesman Dylan Powell says they felt they had no choice after the city of Niagara Falls allowed Holer to lease the municipal property in front of his park, preventing them from setting up pickets there.

Powell says police were called yesterday but there was nothing the NRP could do because the protest was on public property.

As for the future,  Powell says they will probably protest at the Marineland exit adding they don't typically demonstrate in front of private residences.

But he says he won't take another home protest off the table.
