Quebec's striking students coming to Niagara

7/12/2012

Get your pots and pans ready, Quebec's striking students are heading to Niagara.

Protest leaders are taking their show on the road, kicking off a nine-day 'student solidarity' tour in Ottawa with the help of the Canadian Federation of Students Ontario.

They'll make stops in several Ontario cities including Kingston, Toronto, Hamilton and here in Niagara on Sunday, July 15.

The goal of the tour is to educate Ontario students on how to fight rising tuition fees in the province, the highest in the country.

Quebec students have been on strike for five months, opposed to a $1,600 tuition fee hike, spread out over five years.

At times, the protests have turned violent, resulting in confrontations with police and numerous arrests.
