A 39 year old Niagara Falls man had to be rescued from the lower Niagara Gorge by the Whirlpool after breaking his ankle from a 20 foot fall.

The Niagara Falls Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services were called around noon yesterday to help bring him up from the gorge.

He was transported to Greater Niagara General Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
