A lenghty rescue in Decew Gorge yesterday evening after 13 people and a dog got stuck in the muck.

Yesterday's rain made a steep path from the Gorge back up to the Bruce Trail impossible to climb.

St Catharines fire crews were called to the scene and were forced to rig up ropes and harnesses to get the group of hikers back up.

The  rescue turned into a marathon session when fire crews were forced to bring each of the hikers up individually in a harness, using a pulley system to get them up the slippery slope.

No one was injured.
