Two new family doctors for St.Catharines

8/8/2012

Two new doctors are setting up family practices in St.Catharines.

Mayor Brian McMullan says the news shows just how effective the city's physician recruitment program is.

Back in 1999 the Ministry of Health designated the Niagara Region as underserviced for doctors.

The Ontario Medical Association states the latest information indicates the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant Local Health Integration Network has one of the worst patient-to-doctor ratios in Ontario, with one physician per 13-hundreds patients.

There are more than 39-thousand patients who don’t have access to a physician.

Dr. Clement Ayanbadejo will be running out of the Niagara-Welland Medical Clinic, 96 Niagara St. 905-988-6006.

Dr. Christian Proulx will be set up at the Hiscott Street Clinic, 8 Hiscott St., Unit 8 905-688-2388.
