Niagara's unemployment rate stayed above the provincial & national averages in July.
Statistics Canada says the region's jobless rate edged up to 8.2 % from 8.1% in June.
Ontario's unemployment figure is up a little too, from 7.7% to 7.9%. Canada-wide the percentage of people out of work is up from 7.2% to 7.3%.
Ontario was the only province to make significant gains, adding 10 600 new jobs.
But TD Economics points out those jobs were part-time & they say Ontario has a long way to go before reaching its pre-recession unemployment rate.
