We should learn a little more Friday afternoon about the woman whose torso has been found in the Niagara River, near Niagara Falls.
There's a media conference set for 2pm at Niagara Regional Police headquarters in St. Cathairnes. NRP spokesman, constable Derek Watson tells 610 CKTB News, they should have a few more details about the woman's physical description, including her height. Watson says police still haven't IDed the woman.
We do know she's a white, middle-aged woman with a pierced belly button. She looks to have had at least 1 C-Section & her tubes were tied. Police say the torso doesn't belong to Guang Hua Liu, the victim in Toronto's body parts case.
Watson didn't know if investigators will be able to reveal how the owner of the torso died, though police have said she was murdered. Police say her body had been in the water for 4-14 days.
Police are appealing for any information about the torso found in the Niagara River. If you know anything call the Major Crimes Unit at 905-688-4111 x4200 or contact Crime Stoppers.
