Arrests have been made following an overnight fire in Welland.

Fire crews and police were called to a home at 1033 Ontario St. for a fire on the back balcony of the home.  The lone person inside the house managed to escape without injury but the damage was pegged at nearly $50,000.

Police were called in to investigate and determined that several people had been involved in an incident at the home earlier.  Police aren't saying what the incident was but as a result, two people were charged.

Facing charges of arson is 40-year-old Sandra Konig.  As well, 37-year-old Salvatore Mancuso is charged with assault and breach of probation.
