Two Niagara Gorge rescues this Labour Day weekend

9/3/2012

Two rescues over the weekend at the Niagara Gorge.

On Saturday night two people called 9-1-1 after becoming stranded in the dark at Niagara Glen.

Police say they went out for a late afternoon walk, but became afraid for their safety when the sun went down.

They were escorted out just before 10p.

On Sunday night three young adults were stranded in the Hubbard Point area.

One of the three was able to get out of the gorge and call for help.

One had to be lifted out by the Niagara Falls Fire Department.

The third was assisted by members of the Niagara Parks Police High Angle River Team.

All three are facing trespassing charges.
