Possible break in Niagara River torso case

9/6/2012

There may be a break in the female torso case that has landed at the feet of Niagara Regional Police.

There are reports that the family of a Niagara Falls New York woman have submitted DNA samples to police to see if it is the torso found in the Niagara River last week.

Thirty year old Loretta Gates was last seen on August 25th.

New York State Police Captain Steven Nigrelli says they are waiting DNA confirmation.

Nigrelli is hoping to have the results some time today.

But he did say that she does fit the profile.

According to her Facebook profile she has three children and works as a supervisor at a model agency in Cheektowaga.

Meanwhile, Niagara Regional Police have suspended their expanded land and water search.

They say in a release they will resume if new evidence comes to light.
