Charges laid in Welland crash

The Niagara Regional Police have laid charges stemming from a July accident that sent five people to hospital.
Police were called to Thorold Road on Sunday July 29th after a Toyota struck a Buick from behind sending both vehicles out of control. The Toyota left the roadway and struck two Welland pedestrians that were on the north sidewalk of Thorold Road. The Toyota then overturned and landed on its roof in the driveway of Centennial High school.
Both the 20 and 21 year-old pedestrians received serious injuries, while the 2 year-old toddler they were pushing in a stroller received minor injuries.
On Thursday, the driver of the Toyota, 51-year od Dwana Conway of Welland, was charged with two counts of Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, and Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle.
This collision remains under investigation by the NRP.
