What makes the run unique is that there is no minimum donation or entry fee to take part.
Terry's request was that every Canadian donate just one dollar towards the run to fund cancer research.
Participants can run, walk, bike or roller-blade on local courses as part of the 32nd annual event.
Fox -- who launched his Marathon of Hope run after losing a leg to cancer -- died in 1981 after getting about half way across the country.
