The Wainfleet bog is open again to the public.

The site was closed in early August after a fire broke out and burned for three weeks.

It took a crew of Forest Fire Rangers from the Ministry of Natural Resources to finally put the blaze out.

Over the past week, the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority monitored the area for any hots spots and inspected trails to make sure they are safe for the public.

The authority says despite recent rainfall, they are asking visitors to refrain from smoking.
