9/21/2012

A would be bank robber's efforts were foiled thanks to members of the First Ontario Credit Union.

Police say a lone male entered the Credit Union on Niagara Street in St. Catharines.

He approached a teller demanding cash.

Some customers in line overheard the bandit and subdued him until police arrived.

44 year old Richard Alligood of no fixed address was arrested without incident.

According to reports this morning, Alligood is a convicted killer who served time after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the 2003 stabbing death of his sister's boyfriend in the playground of the old Victoria School.

He's facing several charges including robbery, assault with a weapon and breaching probation.

He'll appear for a bail hearing today in St. Catharines
