Ontario Liberals set to debut bill to impose wage freeze on all public sector workers

9/26/2012

The minority Liberals -- who've already cut fees to doctors and banned teachers from striking -- are set to unveil their plan to force restraint on the public sector today.

Details on legislation that would rein in the salaries of public sector workers to battle the 15-billion-dollars deficit are expected to come today from Finance Minister Dwight Duncan.

Several unions that are girding for battle with the province are also expected to outline their plans to fight back later today.

The Ontario Federation of Labour is holding an emergency meeting with other union leaders to talk about how they can mobilize province-wide to challenge the cuts.
