Shana Carter's remains found; arrest made

9/27/2012

An arrest has been made in the disappearance and murder of Shana Carter.

The 24 year old Grimsby woman vanished after leaving her Grimsby home in December 2010.

Her remains were discovered in a wooded area, north of Parry Sound, last Friday although police were only able to confirm it was Shana on Wednesday.

35-year-old Christopher Lee Sharples has been charged with first degree murder. It's unclear what, if any, relation the victim had with her accused killer.

In a release, the NRP has asked the public for help in locating the person or persons who had done some home renovations at 4 Arrowhead Lane in Grimsby the week of December 6th, 2010. Police began searching that home last week for clues about Shana's disappearance.

Any one with information is asked to call Niagara Regional Police or Crime Stoppers of Niagara at 1-800-222-8477.

Sharples has a bail hearing slated for Friday at the St. Catharines courthouse.
