The creator of ``Family Guy'' has been picked to host next year's Oscars.
   
It will be Seth MacFarlane's first time hosting the Academy Awards.
   
He made his directorial debut earlier this year with ``Ted,'' which took in more than 420-million dollars at the box office.
   
The 38-year-old also hosted the season premiere of ``Saturday Night Live'' last month.
