Welland MPP Cindy Forster wants more time to discuss proposed changes to electoral boundaries that will affect Welland and Thorold.
Forster says some areas in Ontario get two days of public meetings while Niagara, which consists of four different ridings and a population of 430 thousand, has one afternoon in Niagara Falls on October 29th.
In a letter to the Electoral Boundaries Commission, Forster says it is paramount for an extension, so people in Niagara can voice their opinions on the matter on line or in public.
She is also upset that a deadline of October 1st didn't give people enough notice to submit their opinions to the commissioner who may not like the changes.
Forster says the deadline went under the radar with no exposure.
Several months ago Prime Minister Stephen Harper said he was going to add 30 new MP seats across Canada to provide more equal representation in areas that had more constituents than others.
