Beef recall expanded again

10/4/2012

More products possibly tainted with E. coli have been added to the ever-growing list of beef products being recalled nationwide by Alberta's X-L Foods.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency updated its alert overnight to add dozens more beef products to an already lengthy list of more than 15-hundred items.

And the agency warns the list may grow longer still as officialstrack beef from the affected plant to secondary distributors, manufacturers and retailers.

The expanded recall came just hours after M-Ps wrapped up a late-night emergency debate in the Commons over the government's handling of the recall.

Opposition M-Ps claim funding cuts to the C-F-I-A made things worse.
