Police have released the name of the man killed while riding his bike in Thorold on Merrittville Highway Thursday evening.

19 year-old Albert Piccioni from Campbellville, Ontario was attending school at Brock University.

A 24 year-old man from Smithville was driving north on Merrittville Highway just north of Decew Road when the car and the bike collided.

Piccioni was thrown from his mountain bike and was pronounced dead at hospital.

This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police - Collision Reconstruction Unit.
