Final Marineland protest will feature popular animal activist

10/7/2012

Animal rights protesters are planning to bring out the big guns at their final Marineland protest today.

Ric O'Barry, who starred in the Oscar winning documentary the Cove will speak at the protest at 2p.

O'Barry, who spent years training dolphins for the TV show Flipper is also the founder of the Dolphin Project , a group fighting to end the slaughter and exploitation of the marine mammals.

O’Barry will use the visit to Southern Ontario to meet with politicians and try to convince them to ban school trips to marine parks.

He met with Ontario's Community Safety Minister last week and she promised to make changes to laws if necessary.

Today marks the final day of the park's 2012 season.
