Niagara is doing well in key service areas according to a municipal performance report of 16 municipalities.
The 2011 Performance Benchmarking Report compares 14 municipalities from Ontario and one each from Manitoba and Alberta.
Areas where the region does well include social assistance, water distribution and treatment, planning, long-term care and road maintenance.
Niagara also fared well in emergency response time, from time of call to arrival on scene, by coming in third out of 16 municipalities.
Regional Chair Gary Burroughs says the report is encouraging but also helps the region focus on ways to improve areas of concern.
The Ontario Municipal Benchmarking Initiative (OMBI) presents the results from 2009 to 2011.
