ETFO to keep report card comments short
Ontario's largest teachers' union is telling its members to keep their report card comments short.
A source who requested anonymity confirms that the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario has advised members to write only the bare minimum, such as a single sentence rather than a paragraph.
It's the latest move by the unions to withdraw voluntary activities to protest a controversial law that freezes wages, cuts benefits and stop strikes.
But the source says it's just advice, and teachers will be able to make their own decisions about whether they want to follow it.
Some Ontario teachers have already withdrawn other voluntary activities, such as coaching and parent-teacher meetings.
