The Niagara Region's budget commitee has agreed to offset provincial funding cuts that will hurt Niagara's homeless population.
Last night, members of the committee agreed to a 3.3 million dollar plan to boost funding for the Community Start up and Maintenance Benefit following provincial cuts to that program.
Regional Chair Gary Burroughs tells 610 CKTB's Tim Denis, the provincial cut went deep and if they didn't act it would make a bad situation even worse for people with no where to go.
The program helps people who are struggling come up with first and last months rent.
