The Niagara Health System's interim supervisor has announced the appointment of the community based nominating committee that will help select a new hospital board.

The committee was first mentioned in Dr. Kevin Smith's interim report to the Minister of Health Deb Matthews and also recommended in his final report that announced the location of the proposed new south hospital.

The committee will evaluate applicants and recommend acceptable candidates for the new NHS Board of Directors.

Some of the people appointed include Regional Chair Gary Burroughs, the head of the medical school for Niagara region Dr. Karl Stobbe and President of Casino Niagara Limited Art Frank.

The first meeting will be held in early November.
