A 34 year old Welland man is facing a number of charges including assaulting a police officer after a traffic stop Saturday.

The man was arrested after being pulled over.

Officers launched an investigation and received a search warrant for an East Main Street address.
The man is charged with Assault Police Officer, Resist Arrest, Obstruct Justice, Fail to Comply, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Four-thousand dollars worth of cocaine was seized during the search.
