Police are looking for a suspect who held up a Welland convenience store armed with a butcher knife.

The suspect went into the Avondale on Niagara Street around 10 last night where he approached the female clerk and demanded money.

She handed over some cash and he fled the scene on foot.

Police and the K9 unit searched the area but came up empty handed.

The suspect is described as 18-25 years of age, about 5 foot 10, 150 pounds wearing a black and grey hooded jacket.
