Niagara Regional Police responded to a knife attack in Welland early this morning.

Police were called to the area of East Main Street shortly after 1 am and found 42-year old Ronald Sawyer bleeding profusely from the head.

At the time the victim said he was attacked by an unknown suspect.

However, further investigation revealed that Sawyer was lying, and that he was actually attacked by someone known to him - 38-year old Janice Draper.

Now both Sawyer and Draper are facing numerous charges and will appear in court at a later date.
